Educated in fine arts and having acquired a diploma in Secretarial Practice and a Masters in Labor Management, Sharmila’s first love has been literature. One chance encounter with a senior member of Indian Montessori Centre had her interest in poetry rekindled.
Understanding the requirements of the Montessori Method of education, Sharmila adapted well to their principles and delivered rhymes in three languages, English, Kannada and Hindi. Apart from interaction with her children, her continued association with the children in Prerana Montessori House of Children where she worked for seven years helped immensely in this endeavor.
A trained Carnatic classical singer, Sharmila has also lent her voice in rendering these rhymes. Fifty of these rhymes have been composed and released in two volumes of Audio CDs titled “Genuine Gems”.
She has also done translation reviews and voice over recordings in Kannada, for a couple of audio tours for Intach’s city walks. She is also a visual artist.
Sharmila has been the Copy Editor for the program. Her command over the language, critical thinking, eye for detail and a sense of style have added value and depth to the course material. She has also contributed to the course content to make it wider, deeper and wholesome.
